The Gro Company have been working with The Lullaby Trust since its very beginning. During a partnership spanning over 15 years, the Gro Company have made a significant contribution to the vital work done by The Lullaby Trust, making a positive difference to the lives of thousands of families across the UK.
The partnership started in 2000, when The Gro Company approached The Lullaby Trust (at that time called The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths) for safety advice, 6 months before they launched the Grobag baby sleep bag, as they were aware that babies can wriggle down under sheets and blankets, creating risks such as overheating and covering of babies’ heads. In 2005 the partnership became even more effective, by helping to establish the guidelines for the British Standard for baby sleep bags. Although the product was relatively unknown in the UK when the Grobag was first launched, over 95% of parents in the UK now use baby sleep bags, and the Grobag is only baby sleep bag recommended by The Lullaby Trust.
But the relationship has never been just a corporate one. Many of The Gro Company employees feel a strong personal connection to the importance of safe sleep for babies, and as a result have been avid fundraisers for the charity. Over the years, employees have run 10k races, grown beards, and baked cakes with great enthusiasm to raise money. Combined with company contributions, this has resulted in donations of over £850,000 to The Lullaby Trust to help towards their research into SIDS, and to support their work in reaching millions of parents with life-saving safer sleep advice.
Formed in 1971, The Lullaby Trust is the leading UK charity dedicated to the research and prevention of SIDS. The charity provides specialist support for bereaved families, promotes expert advice on safer baby sleep and raises awareness on sudden infant death, as well as supporting research to understand why five babies a week still die from SIDS.
We strongly believe in reducing the number of families devastated by Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. As leaders in our respective fields, we are committed to enabling safer sleep practices that can reduce the risk of SIDS occurring. Whether it be through fundraising, research, education or the best possible products; we are working together to help parents keep their babies as safe as possible while they sleep.
