Christmas is well and truly on its way and it’s a great excuse to get on the paint, glitter and glue and get up to some festive activities! How many can you cram in before Christmas Eve bedtime?
Check out our top 5 suggestions….
Wise King Crowns– Super easy to make especially for little ones. Create your crown out of paper (shiny paper always looks jazzy) and then get your little ones to decorate. We love sticking sequins and poms poms onto ours!
Gingerbread Playdough– This festive spin on classic play dough is sure to be a sensory sensation for your little elves. You’ll need: 1 cup of flour, ½ cup of salt, ½ tbsp of Ground Ginger, ½ tbsp of Cinnamon, 1 tbsp of Vegetable Oil and ½ cup of water. Mix it all together and knead until it’s smooth. Add a little more flour if the consistency is sticky!
Footprint Reindeer– A great way to make cards to send at Christmas by printing little feet and turning them into reindeer. Definitely one for the mantelpiece!
Oven Baked Orange Decorations– Guaranteed to make your house smell incredibly festive, children can have lots of fun threading these dried oranges, cinnamon sticks etc onto string to hang as decorations. Follow these easy instructions to dry your oranges, apple slices and chillies (Adult supervision required)
1. Pat dry with a clean tea towel
2. Place them on a metal cooling rack over a baking tray so that air can circulate around them easily and they don’t burn or stick.
3. Pop them into a low oven (120°C) for about three hours.
4. Turn them over every half hour or so
Christmas Eve Reindeer Food– A great thing to make on Christmas Eve to make sure that those reindeer pay your house a visit. Using Oats, grated carrots or whatever you fancy mix it all up and pop it in a little bag ready to sprinkle at bedtime.
A cute poem to go alongside is:
Sprinkle on the lawn at night,
The moon will make it sparkle bright,
Santa’s reindeer fly and roam,
This will help them find your home…
