Want a pick me up pre or post pregnancy. Here are a few fab ideas to soothe and relax that don’t cost the earth.
From oil burners and wax melts to gorgeous perfumed candles, scented rooms can give a real pick me up or a great way to wind down depending on the smell. Aromatherapy oils have been used for thousands of years.
Lavender, Bergamot and Ylang ylang all have relaxing properties. Lavender in particular has been found to help provide a better quality of sleep, helping to reduce anxiety and depression in women with postpartum depression. *

Downward dog might not be the first thing that springs to mind but the benefits of yoga for relaxing the mind, creating a time for calm, reducing stress and increasing strength and flexibility are well known. If you can’t make it to a regular class take a look online, there are lots of great videos you can follow. Little ones love to join in too, check locally for mum and baby yoga classes you can attend or try it at home, Fearne Cotton has a great book Yoga Babies that is a fab starting point. Just remember to check with your doctor first and don’t push yourself to any movements you’re not comfortable with.

We know it’s good for us and recommended by everyone, but when you’re feeling grim or have had a disturbed night’s sleep it can be the last thing on your mind. So if donning lycra and sweatbands is a bit unrealistic then just go for a good old walk. Good for you, good for baby. Get the blood pumping, those endorphins flowing and grab some fresh air too.
